after boxy jr sold his landcruiser he got an old cheap ford to do his melbourne trip after getting to melbourne i got into some troble with the old ford and decided to get a new car after looking around for a few week i stumbled across this near perfect 1988 model land rover range rover highline model (yes its top of the line) for just $3000 no rego or rwc so after a rwc which it only needed a light bulb for it still came in at a bit under $4000 its only modification is a bullbar and a rear bar not sure if its factory. for thoughs that dont know alot about range rovers the classic (the nick name for the original) was the first 4x4 with coil springs and constant 4x4 mine also has the 3.5 litre fuel injected v8 which is both good on fuel and powerful aluminium panels that bolt on or off at home for easy repair along with captains chairs up front and electric mirrors sunroof and windows. it is my first automatic 4x4 and it has surprized me with how well it works off road
boxy snr also has a new 4x4 after his landcruisers engine trouble he has traded it in on a 2000 model holden rodeo dual cab running a 3.2 litre v6 petrol with a 5 speed manual it has a uhf bull bar and aluminium tray as well as an under tray water tank planned mods are a front locker and under tray draws and canopy
thank you for looking at our cars box family dosen't ever want to buy another car ever |

Hi Tim,
Both vehicles look to be pretty well kept. Are you planning on adding any aftermarket accessories to your Rangie? If you need ideas, log on to AULRO (the official Land Rover forum).
Although the Range Rover is a better looking four wheel drive, I prefer the versatility and reliability of the slowdeo (I meant Rodeo). |

The next family outing should be interesting.
Nice looking units, be even better with a lift and bigger tyres.
3.2 litre v6 petrol, sorry Steve, I think it may go a little quicker than the diesel, especially up Cinningham's. _________________ They're philosophical questions really, do I need too, do I want too? |

Wow, now all we need to do is equip Ryan with a 4WD too!
Can't wait to see how they go on the next trip, thanks for the pics. I like pics. _________________ My offroad vehicle can go where yours can't. |

"Noice" looking vehicles, can't wait till we have our next trip away, glad to see another tray back in the club.
Does this mean Tim that we have to change your name from Bundera Boy to Prince Charles?

I've just returned from hols where I did a bit of travelling up and down the New England ranges, the hilux was packed to the limits and going up some of the hills on the highway was very interesting, at least there was no chance of getting a speeding ticket. Glad the hilux has low range, I thought I may have to use it. |

I'm sure with some careful additions that Rodeo will be a touring beast, with 5 cars at the Box's house now it will be a car shuffle every morning good luck with that.
Timbo what can I say, its a Rangie It will be good to see how well it goes in the bush, I never saw the other 2 4x4's in action, perhaps Tim you might have to upgrade your recovery gear. |
